JOHA Fish Glue Original from Canada – Ready-to-Use Premium Adhesive for Violin Making

With JOHA Fish Glue, you get a genuine, high-quality Canadian adhesive in liquid, ready-to-use form that you can apply immediately without any preparation.

Origin and Production:

The fish glue is made from the skins of cold-water fish such as cod, pollock (saithe), and other species. The fishing area is mainly the Canadian part of the Labrador Current at depths of 100 to 200 meters. Our supplied glue is pure and uncut, containing no warm-blooded animal bones or fillers – this purity is the basis for its exceptionally high bonding strength of 21 N/mm².

Properties:

  • Good setting and curing
  • Paintable and sandable
  • Washable with water
  • Solvent-free and transparent
  • Frost resistant down to -30 °C due to uncut formulation
  • Minimum shelf life of 3 years
  • Excellent elasticity for optimal sound development

Application Instructions:

  • Ready-to-use, no heating or mixing necessary
  • Apply liquid glue carefully
  • Press glued wood under pressure for about 12 hours
  • Then do not stress for 24 hours
  • Open working time: 5–10 minutes
  • For repairs, the bond can be softened again by warming

Usage:

JOHA Fish Glue is ideal for gluing and repairing string instruments. Its high bonding strength and elasticity ensure a secure and durable bond that can still be undone if necessary.

Why Canadian Fish Glue?

Canadian fish glue has had an excellent reputation in violin making for decades. Careful production and selection of raw materials guarantee the best processing quality and a sustainable adhesive bond.
