Hide Glue for Violin Making – Traditional, Reversible Adhesive Our high-quality hide glue is the first choice for violin makers and restorers who value natural materials and expert craftsmanship. It bonds wood parts reliably and can be set by warming in a water bath and loosened again using steam up to 60 °C – ideal for repair and restoration work. Features: 100% natural, animal-based glue Gel strength: 320–350 Bloom – for optimal bonding and handling Strong adhesion with reversible bonding properties Soaked in cold water and gently heated in a water bath up to 60 °C Processing temperature: lukewarm (approx. 40–50 °C) Can be loosened with steam up to 60 °C Free from chemical additives – ideal for delicate tonewoods Application: Soak the hide glue in cold water, then gently heat it in a water bath to a maximum of 60 °C until a clear solution is formed. Let the glue cool slightly before application and use it while still lukewarm (approx. 40–50 °C). If necessary, the bond can later be gently loosened by applying steam up to 60 °C without damaging the instrument. Bone Glue Pearls – Premium Quality for Violin Making Our bone glue in pearl form with a gel strength of 180 Bloom is a proven hot hide glue for violin and musical instrument making. It offers excellent adhesive strength, is reversible, and made from purely natural raw materials – ideal for new builds and restoration of high-quality string instruments. Origin and Production: The fish glue is made from the skins of cold-water fish such as cod, pollock (saithe), and other species. The fishing area is mainly the Canadian part of the Labrador Current at depths of 100 to 200 meters.
